Assoc. Prof. Selin Akyüz Gave a Talk at Stockholm University Institute for Turkish Studies

We are pleased to share that Assoc. Prof. Selin Akyüz, faculty member at the Department of Political Science and International Relations at TED University, delivered a talk titled “He is narrating: tracing masculinist protection in presidents’ speeches in Turkey” at the Stockholm University Institute for Turkish Studies (SUITS) on June 10, 2025.
The presentation was part of the Higher Seminars series and was based on a co-authored article with Dr. Senem Yıldırım Özdem, also a faculty member in the same department. The study explores how masculinist discourses of protection are embedded in the speeches of Turkish presidents, offering a critical lens on the gendered dimensions of political leadership and national security narratives.
